Broadcast: American Heritage Girls

twitterJulie Smith, Founder, National Organization of Conservative Women, speaks with Patti Garibay, President of American Heritage Girls (AHG). AHG was founded in 1995 and in June, 2009 became the first all girl scouting organization to be officially affiliated with the Boy Scouts of America. Patti and a group of mothers sat around a kitchen table fifteen years ago on a mission to create a troop for girls where life skills and service were taught with a biblical God perspective and a love for America’s foundation fostered. Patti outlines the AHG scouting program by age and the exciting things in store for America’s girls in 2010 as well as how to find a troop for mothers and daughters to get involved.

Patti, a former delegate with the Girl Scouts of America (GSA),  shares that in 1993, the Girl Scouts of America National Council began the process of making God optional in the Girl Scouts of America Promise becoming the catalyst for Patti and the other women to create an alternative for their girls and girls across America as well in military bases and missionary families overseas.

NOCW understands the statements made in this broadcast were from a national organization perspective and many mothers are troop leaders in the GSA with hearts for God and the girls they serve, our Treasurer included.
